Attention to Your Facebook Page

Improving your Social Media Use

Do you use Facebook? Twitter? Or Other Social Media Sites?

You’ll have noticed.  It’s all gone digital; computing, letter writing, the internet, photography, education.

The most successful people on facebook and Twitter are those that use photographs to illustrate their messages and tweets.

There are a lot of photos on facebook and twitter. Some good. Some not so good. Some bad!

But the best way to attract attention is to have GOOD photos.

ACS Distance Education has over 400 distance learning courses; including new technology and traditional skills that may be of interest to you and while we offer an up-to-date online method of learning, you can if you wish, choose to use the pen & paper method, if that suits you best. We try to cater for everyone.

Our series of photography courses includes a module on Digital Photography, which helps overcome some of the mystique that digital imaging has introduced but we have not forsaken good old film for those who prefer to continue with their cherished and well-maintained equipment.  Also on offer – Introduction to Photography, Landscape Photography, Wedding Photography, Photographing People.

If you are not sure if photography is for you, we have a wide range of courses in other areas, such as management, training, horticulture, agriculture, creative writing, freelance writing, efficient writing and much more.

You can view our courses at www.acsedu.co.uk.

Not Getting Enough Sleep?

NOT GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP?
Well it seems a lot of us in the UK aren’t!
Professor Espie of The University of Glasgow has studied 12000 adults in the UK and looked at their sleep patterns. This is the largest study on sleep patterns that has been carried out in the UK.
He found that more than half of us are not getting a good night’s rest.
51% of adults struggle to fall asleep or remain asleep.
Women suffer from this more than men.
75% of women report the problem, compared to 25% of men.

55% report relationship difficulties as a result of their lack of sleep.
77% say that it affects their concentration.
64% felt less productive at work.
83% had mood problems.
93% lacked energy.
Professor Espie states that “Living with poor sleep and its consequences is not only very common, but it is in all likelihood degrading Britain’s health.”
Espie also states that “Insomnia affects people’s quality of life during the day, not just their sleep at night.

Tired All the Time?

Tired? Have an Egg?
We just talked about sleep in the last blog, but scientists have said that eggs are better to help you keep awake than sweets. They have found that egg proteins, found in the egg white, can help us feel more alert and awake.
Cambridge University found that the egg whites activate brain cells that are involved in keeping us awake and burning calories. They then release the stimulant orexin.
But the effect of orexin can be inhibited by sugar.
So it is better to eat egg on toast than jam on toast.
Research from the British Nutrition Foundation has also stated that the cholesterol found in eggs has minimal effect on raising the risk of heart disease.

AND
You don’t have to leave your existing job to do it. You can study in your own time and in your own home.
We offer courses in a range of areas that could lead you to a new career. Here are just some examples –

Like all inner journeys, life coaching must begin with the client’s present situation and the many internal and external influences upon it. Life coaching begins with working with the client to understand where the person is at, psychologically, physically, financially and interpersonally. Only after obtaining a more accurate, clear picture of the client’s Present can both client and life coach identify elements in the client’s Past that may be hindering growth in any particular area, and plan strategies for the client’s Future that will encourage and nurture progress.
People may contact a life coach for very different reasons: to help them make better financial or career decisions; to get them motivated; to help them overcome feelings of frustration, helplessness, or lack of confidence; to help them manage personal relationships; to help them develop practical life skills. However, the reasons for contacting a life coach may not be the primary issues that are causing the client distress or dissatisfaction, and much of the life coach’s work will be to lead the client on a journey of self-discovery.
