Tired? Have an Egg?
We just talked about sleep in the last blog, but scientists have said that eggs are better to help you keep awake than sweets. They have found that egg proteins, found in the egg white, can help us feel more alert and awake.
Cambridge University found that the egg whites activate brain cells that are involved in keeping us awake and burning calories. They then release the stimulant orexin.
But the effect of orexin can be inhibited by sugar.
So it is better to eat egg on toast than jam on toast.
Research from the British Nutrition Foundation has also stated that the cholesterol found in eggs has minimal effect on raising the risk of heart disease.
